Show slides with pictures that represent the new vocabulary, ask students to repeat.
Play a memory game of the vocabulary words to reinforce it.
Go through the book showing the pictures and asking the student to create a story based on these pictures
Tell the story by reading the book.
Homework: Write sentences using the vocabulary learned.
It would be interesting for students to compare the school houses in the country and the city, as well as the life in the country and the city, as you unfold your lesson. Venn diagram might be a great graphic organizer for that. Here is a fun book you might be able to use: Country Kid, City Kid. http://www.amazon.com/Country-Kid-City-Julie-Cummins/dp/0805064672
ReplyDeleteMaybe you could use comic strips to have students write about life in the city and the country. :)
